- Flying Dolphin XVIII | greekpassengerships
FLYING DOLPHIN XVIII (ΦΛΑΪΝΓΚ ΝΤΟΛΦΙΝ ΧVIII) -Hellenic Seaways (2005-2019) Built in 1984, scrapped in 2019 (age 35). Was registered in Piraeus. The hydrofoil FLYING DOLPHIN XVIII was built in 1984 in Georgia (then part of the Soviet Union), for the Greek company Ceres Flying Dolphins, which she joined alongside her sister ship, namely the FLYING DOLPHIN XVII. She was deployed on the Sporades, being assigned on the Agios Konstantinos-Volos-Trikeri-Pefki-Skiathos-Skopelos-Alonissos-Marmaras line. In 1999 Ceres Flying Dolphins was transferred to Minoan Flying Dolphins, which became Hellas Flying Dolphins in 2002. The hydrofoil remained on the Sporades under the latter's ownership, although this time she was on the Agios Konstantinos-Volos-Trikeri-Skiathos-Skopelos-Alonissos line. In 2005, when her company was rebranded as Hellenic Seaways, she headed to the Saronic Gulf, being deployed on the Piraeus-Aegina-Agistri-Poros-Hydra-Ermioni-Spetses-Porto Cheli line. Even though she was supposed to be retired in 2014 because of the completion of her 30 years of service, Hellenic Seaways was granted a one-year service extension for both her and the FLYING DOLPHIN XVII. After the 2015 season was completed, the mandatory age limit for hydrofoils was abolished, and therefore she was granted an indefinite service extension, thus allowing her to continue her operations on the Saronic Gulf. In 2019, however, she was seriously damaged by a fire which occurred while she was undergoing her annual refit in Perama. Having been declared a constructive total loss, she was scrapped on the spot in late 2019, after a 35-year-long career in Greece. Current line: None (under refit in Rhodes) The conventional ferry PANAGIA SKIADENI was built in 1986 in Japan, as the FERRY TACHIBANA for the Japanese company Nankai Ferry. She was deployed on the Wakayama-Tokushima line, where she remained until 2000. That same year, she was sold to the South Korean company Dong Yang Shipping Company (known as Dong Yang Express Ferry Company since 2005) and she was renamed ORIENT STAR. She served the Busan-Jeju line on the Jeju Strait, where she remained until 2003. During that same year she was sold to the Greek company Karystia Lines (owned by the Alifrangis family), thus becoming their second ship, after the MARMARI EXPRESS which had been acquired in 1999. She was temporarily renamed STAR A and she underwent a major conversion in Drapetsona, during which her bow was remodeled, while her stern was upgraded with the addition of outdoor sun decks, and her indoor areas were fully refurbished. She was eventually renamed ARTEMISIA in 2004, and she began service on the Rafina-Marmari line on the Petalioi Gulf in 2005. Following the completion of the 2011 season, she was sold to Dodekanisos Seaways, hence becoming their third ship and the first conventional ferry to begin services for them (indeed they had bought the ferry PANAGIA SKIADENI back when they were established in 1999, but that ship never operated for them, as she was sold within a few months to DANE Sea Line, and she is currently known as the DIAGORAS of Blue Star Ferries). She was renamed PANAGIA SKIADENI and she underwent a refit in Salamina, before beginning service in late 2011 on the Rhodes-Symi line on the Dodecanese. From 2012 to 2014 she also operated on the Rhodes-Marmaris line. She underwent a major refit in 2021 in Salamina, during which her indoor areas were fully renovated. In 2023 she operated on the inter-Dodecanese lifeline linking the Dodecanese Islands with Samos, therefore operating on the Samos-Agathonisi-Farmakonisi-Arkioi-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Symi-Rhodes lifeline. She returned to the Rhodes-Symi line in 2024. PHOTOS (2022): PANAGIA SKIADENI The PANAGIA SKIADENI seen arriving in the port of Panormitis in Symi (8/2022). Current line: None in Greece, sold to Jadrolinija for service in Croatia The impressive double-ended ferry GLYKOFILOUSA IV was built in 2017 in Greece. She was delivered to the Greek company Panagia Glykofilousa NE, having been the sixth ship ordered by them, alongside her sister ship, namely the GLYKOFILOUSA V. She was deployed on the Perama-Salamina line. Upon her introduction to service, she was one of the most modern and exciting double-ended ferries to have ever been built. In 2023 she was sold to the Croatian company Jadrolinija and she was renamed SVETI DUJE. She entered service for her new owners on the Drvenik-Sućuraj line, hence connecting mainland Croatia with the Eastern part of the island of Hvar on the Adriatic Sea. ARIADNE (ΑΡΙΑΔΝΗ) -Hellenic Seaways, operated by Superfast Ferries Built in 1996 (age 29). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Piraeus-Milos-Chania The beautiful ARIADNE (bearing my grandmother's name) was built in 1996 in Japan. She began her career there as the RAINBOW BELL for the Japanese company Kyuetsu Ferry, being deployed on the Naoetsu-Fukuoka line. She was laid-up in 2001 in Naoetsu. In 2002 she was sold to Shuttle Highway Line, being deployed on the Yokosuka-Fukuoka line, and two years later she was sold to the Japanese company Miyazaki Car Ferry, being renamed FERRY HIMUKA. She entered service on the Hannan-Hyūga-Miyazaki line, before being laid-up in 2006. A few months later, however, she was sold to the Greek company Hellenic Seaways, becoming their first acquisition under their new company name (they were previously known as Minoan Flying Dolphins from 1999 to 2002 and later as Hellas Flying Dolphins from 2002 to 2005) and she was renamed ARIADNE. She underwent a conversion in Keratsini, during which her indoor areas were fully renovated, and in late 2007 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Chania line, where she competed against ANEK Lines. In the winter of 2008 she was chartered to Minoan Lines in order to replace their ships on the Adriatic Sea, which were undergoing their annual refits. She was deployed on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Corfu-Venice line. Later in 2008 she was chartered to ANEK Lines, being deployed once again on the Piraeus-Chania line. After that summer she went to the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Ancona line, and in 2009 she was chartered to Algérie Ferries for the summer, operating on the Marseille-Oran line between France and Algeria. She repeated the same process in 2010 and in 2011 (namely a winter charter to ANEK Lines on the Adriatic Sea and a summer charter to Algérie Ferries). In 2012 however she did not operate at all, except for her usual summer charter in Algeria. In 2013 she was again due to operate only in the summer for Algérie Ferries. Having been left over by Hellenic Seaways, she seemed like she was not a part of her company's plans, despite being one of the most modern and luxurious ferries carrying the Greek flag and despite being one of the favourite ships of Greek shipping enthusiasts (including myself). That year, she unexpectedly made a breakthrough for Hellenic Seaways. Her fleetmate, namely the NISSOS MYKONOS (today the BLUE STAR MYCONOS of Blue Star Ferries), which was operating on the Piraeus-Syros-Mykonos-Ikaria-Samos line, suffered a minor fire incident, which caused her to undergo repairs for a month. She was replaced by the NISSOS CHIOS, which had been operating on the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene line. However, there was no replacement for the latter, apart from the ARIADNE, which was being prepared for her charter in Algeria. She was therefore deployed on a temporary basis on the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene line, and she was a massive success, helping her company return to profitable levels. Alhough she later left for Algeria, she returned to the Northeast Aegean Sea in the winter, replacing the NISSOS CHIOS (today the BLUE STAR CHIOS of Blue Star Ferries) on the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene line. The latter was then chartered in 2014 to the Spanish company Baleària for four years, which meant that the ARIADNE had permanently taken over the line. In 2015, she operated on the Piraeus-Samos-Chios-Mytilene-Limnos-Kavala line for the summer. The following year, with the introduction of the NISSOS SAMOS, she returned to the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene line. In 2018 she unfortunately left Greece once again, as she was chartered to the Italian company Tirrenia Di Navigazione, being deployed on the Naples-Cagliari-Palermo line. She returned to Hellenic Seaways in 2021, and she was deployed on the Piraeus-Paros-Naxos-Santorini-Samos-Patmos-Leros-Kos-Symi-Rhodes line. In 2023 she moved back to the Adriatic Sea as she was deployed on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Corfu-Bari line, and later in that same year she began operating under the livery of Superfast Ferries. In 2024 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Heraklion line. In 2025 she returned to the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene line. ANTIGONE (ΑΝΤΙΓΟΝΗ) -Saronic Ferries ex-POSEIDONAS (ΠΟΣΕΙΔΩΝΑΣ) for Farmakoris-Villiotis NE (2010-2019) Built in 2010 (age 15 ). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Piraeus-Northern Aegina-Agistri The landing craft ANTIGONE was built in 2010 in Greece, as the POSEIDONAS for the Greek company Farmakoris-Villiotis NE. Upon the completion of her construction, she was deployed on the Arkitsa-Aid i psos line, thus connecting mainland Greece with Evoia via the North Evoian Gulf. Her company also joined the Aid i psos Ferries joint venture, which also included Gavanozis Shipping and Aidipsos Shipping. She was deployed on the Rion-Antirrion line in 2011, but she returned the following year on the Arkitsa-Aidipsos line. In 2018 she was replaced by her younger fleetmate, namely the ALKYON, and she was laid-up in Salamina. While it was initially rumoured that she had been sold overseas, this eventually did not happen and the ship remained laid-up in Salamina for the entire 2019 season, until she was sold to the Saronic Ferries joint venture (composed of Nova Ferries and 2way Ferries). She was renamed ANTIGONE and she underwent a conversion in Perama and Keratsini. After 3 years during which her indoor areas were fully refurbished and her garage area was covered, she was introduced on the Piraeus-Northern Aegina line (serving the port of Souvala) on the Saronic Gulf in 2022, where she met much success. In 2025 she began operating on the Piraeus-Northern Aegina-Agistri line. SUPERFAST I (ΣΟΥΠΕΡΦΑΣΤ Ι) -Superfast Ferries Built in 2008 (age 17 ). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Patras-Igoumenitsa-Bari The Ro-Pax ferry SUPERFAST I was originally ordered in 2007 for the Italian company Grimaldi Holdings, for whom she was due to be delivered as the FORZA. In the middle of her construction, she was sold to the Greek company Superfast Ferries. Her construction was completed in 2008 in Italy, and the ship was launched as the SUPERFAST I, hence becoming the second ship in the history of the company to have that name (after the original SUPERFAST I, currently the SKANIA of the Polish company Unity Line). She was deployed on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Corfu-Bari line on the Adriatic Sea, where she has seen been remaining. A sister ship, namely the SUPERFAST II, was delivered to the company in 2009. In 2023 the ship underwent a minor conversion in Perama, during which she was equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system. CAPTAIN BILL (ΚΑΠΤΑΙΝ ΜΠΙΛ) -Corfu Cruises Built in 1996 (age 29 ). Registered in Corfu. Current line: Corfu-Paxoi-Antipaxoi The small passenger ship CAPTAIN BILL was built in 1996 in Greece, as the ASPIS for the Greek company Manessis Cruises. She was delivered to the company along with her sister ship, namely the KAPETAN GEORGE (today the PIRATES OF THE AEGEAN of Anthoulis Cruises), and they performed daily cruises on the Corfu-Paxoi-Antipaxoi line on the Ionian Sea. Both sister ships were laid-up in 2003 in Corfu due to the financial issues of their owner. The ASPIS was eventually reactivated in 2013 and resumed service on the Corfu-Paxoi-Antipaxoi line. In 2018 she was sold to Corfu Cruises and she was renamed CAPTAIN BILL. She remained on the Corfu-Paxoi-Antipaxoi line, serving as the flagship of Corfu Cruises. - Mytilene | greekpassengerships
MYTILENE (ΜΥΤΙΛΗΝΗ) -NEL Lines (1990-2022) Built in 1973, scrapped in 2022 (age 49). Was registered in Chios. The cruiseferry MYTILENE is perhaps the most historic ship to have ever operated for NEL Lines, and she is surely among the greatest ships in the history of the Greek coastal service. She was built in 1973 in Japan, as the VEGA for the Japanese company Higashi Nihon Ferry, and she operated on the Sendai-Tomokomai line under the Shin Higashi Nihon Ferry division, before the latter was discontinued in 1977. She was bought by NEL Lines in 1990 and she was renamed MYTILENE. She underwent an extensive conversion in Perama, whereupon she was fully remodeled and she acquired a new indoor deck as well as several passenger cabins. She was deployed in 1992 on the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene-Limnos-Thessaloniki line on the Northeast Aegean Sea, where she went on to experience massive success, and she quickly became a passenger favourite. She was the flagship of NEL Lines from 1992 until the arrival of the THEOFILOS in 1995. After 20 years on the main service of NEL Lines, she was deployed on the Piraeus-Ikaria-Samos-Chios-Mytilene-Limnos-Kavala line in 2012. Later in that year she was inserted on the Piraeus-Syros-Mykonos-Ikaria-Fournoi-Samos line. She remained in service despite NEL Lines experiencing severe financial difficulties in the 2010s, and she continued to travel efficiently until suffering from a major engine failure in Samos in 2015. The incident saw her remaining laid-up in the island, while also being detained by her crew, as her company could not afford towing her back to Piraeus in order to repair her. She stayed in Samos for a year, until she was towed to the Elefsina Bay in 2016, in order to continue her lay-up. After remaining there for six years, she was sold for scrap to Turkey in 2022, thus ending a legendary 32-year-long career on the Northeast Aegean Sea. SUPERFAST IV (ΣΟΥΠΕΡΦΑΣΤ ΙV) -Superfast Ferries ex-HELLENIC SPIRIT (ΕΛΛΕΝΙΚ ΣΠΙΡΙΤ) of ANEK Lines (2001-2025) Built in 2001 (age 24 ). Registered in Chania. Current line: Patras-Igoumenitsa-Ancona The cruiseferry SUPERFAST IV was one of two sister ships originally ordered by ANEK Lines in 1998. They were initially named KRITI III and KRITI IV respectively, but their names were changed to OLYMPIC CHAMPION and OLYMPIC SPIRIT respectively prior to their launching. The former was completed in 2000 while the latter was ultimately renamed HELLENIC SPIRIT and was completed in 2001 in Norway. She was introduced on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Corfu-Ancona line on the Adriatic Sea, where she joined her sister ship, and she remained in this service for the whole duration of her career under ANEK Lines. In 2024, after the latter was taken over by Attica Group, the ship was transferred to Superfast Ferries in 2025, and she was renamed SUPERFAST IV following a lengthy refit in Elefsina (thus following her sister ship, which had joined the same company in 2024 as the SUPERFAST III). She therefore became the second ship in the history of the company to have that name (after the original SUPERFAST IV, which is currently the SPIRIT OF TASMANIA I of the Australian company TT-Line Company Pty Ltd). During her refit, she was also equipped with an exhaust gas cleaning system. She remained in service on the Patras-Igoumenitsa-Corfu-Ancona line. GLYKOFILOUSA VIII (ΓΛΥΚΟΦΙΛΟΥΣΑ VIII) -Panagia Glykofilousa NE Built in 2019 (age 6). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Perama-Salamina The impressive double-ended ferry GLYKOFILOUSA VIII was built in 2019 in Greece. She was delivered to the Greek company Panagia Glykofilousa NE, being the eighth ship to have been ordered by them. Besides being as modern and comfortable as her other two fleetmates at the time, namely the GLYKOFILOUSA IV and the GLYKOFILOUSA V (which were both sold overseas in late 2023), her design and her amenities are among the most unique in the Greek coastal service. She operates under the 'Think Green' marketing name, which makes her one of the most environmentally-friendly ferries in Greece. She possesses automated engines consuming low amounts of sulphur, interior and exterior furnishing made out of wood coming from the Agion Oros area, and she also features dozens of plants and trees in both her indoor and her outdoor areas. She began service on the Perama-Salamina line, where she immediately made an impact as an eco-friendly vessel. In 2020 she moved to the Rion-Antirrion line. She returned to the Perama-Salamina line upon the completion of the 2023 summer season. - Kalli P | greekpassengerships
KALLI P (ΚΑΛΛΗ Π) -Idomeneas Lines Built in 1996 (age 29). Registered in Valetta. Current line: None (laid-up in Perama) The high speed ferry KALLI P was built in 1996 in France. She was delivered to the French company SNCM (Société Nationale Maritime Corse-Méditerranée) as the NGV ALISO. She was deployed on the Livorno-Bastia-Portoferraio line. In 2004, she and her sister ship, namely the NGV ASCO, were sold to the Greek company C-Link Ferries (formerly known as AK Ventouris) and they were renamed PANAGIA THALASSINI and PANAGIA PAROU, respectively. After being converted in Perama, the PANAGIA THALASSINI was deployed on the Piraeus-Ios-Santorini-Rethymnon-Heraklion line. in 2005 In 2006 she was deployed on the Lavrion-Syros-Tinos-Mykonos line. In 2007 C-Link Ferries was taken over by NEL Lines, which both the PANAGIA THALASSINI and the PANAGIA PAROU joined as a result. She was deployed on the Lavrion-Kythnos-Syros-Paros-Naxos-Amorgos line that year. In 2008, amidst a rumoured sale to the Egyptian company Namma Lines, she was laid-up in Perama and then in Lavrion. The sale eventually did not take place, and the ship returned to service in 2009, being deployed on the Volos-Skiathos-Skopelos-Limnos-Agios Efstratios-Psara-Chios line. In 2010 she was deployed on the Lavrion-Chios-Psara line, where she remained until 2012. That year, she and the PANAGIA PAROU were chartered to the Moroccan company Inter Shipping, for service on the Algeciras-Tangier Med line on the Gibraltar Strait. By 2013, however, the charter ended, and, due to the serious economic problems faced by NEL Lines, both ships were laid-up, with the PANAGIA THALASSINI being abandoned in Tangier Med. She stayed there until 2015, when she was sold to the Greek company Panagiotopoulos Shipping, which was rebranded as Idomeneas Lines. She returned to Greece and she was renamed KALLI P. She was due to operate on the Heraklion-Santorini line. However, while undergoing her preparation in Keratsini, engine issues and problems regarding the debts owed by NEL Lines forced the ship to remain laid-up. She was moved to Perama in 2016 for further lay-up, and her future is uncertain. PHOTOS (2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024): KALLI P The KALLI P laid-up in Perama, awaiting her fate (7/2018). She was eventually reactivated in 2016, being deployed on the Glyfa-Skiathos-Skopelos line on the Sporades. In 2017 she operated on the Volos-Skiathos-Skopelos line. In 2018, she joined Sea, as part of a trade which saw her former fleetmate, namely the SYMI, joining ANES Ferries for a second stint. The SYMI II returned to the Dodecanese, being once again deployed on the Rhodes-Symi line. In 2020 she was once again laid-up in Rhodes, where she remained for three years. In 2010, she was sold to Poros Ferries, being renamed NISSOS POROS, and she was deployed on the Galatas Troizinias-Poros line, where she has been remaining ever since. PREVELIS (ΠΡΕΒΕΛΗΣ) -ANEK Lines Built in 1980 (age 45). Registered in Rethymnon. Current line: None (laid-up in Elefsina) The cruiseferry PREVELIS was built in 1980 in Japan, as the FERRY ORANGE No. 2 for the Japanese company Shikoku Kaihatsu Ferry, also known as Orange Ferry. She spent her first years on the Osaka-Tōyo line as a day ferry, before being bought in 1994 by the Greek company Cretan Ferries, which was based in Rethymnon. She was converted into a cruiseferry in Perama, being renamed PREVELI, and she started operations in 1995 on the company's main service, namely on the Piraeus-Rethymnon line. She therefore became the second ship to operate on this service, alongside her fleetmate, namely the ARKADI, which had been deployed there since 1989. Both ships proved to be very successful in Rethymnon. However, in 2000, Cretan Ferries was acquired by ANEK Lines, with the latter taking over the service previously covered by the former on the Piraeus-Rethymnon line. The ship was renamed PREVELIS and she was deployed on the Piraeus-Astypalaia-Patmos-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Symi-Rhodes-Castellorizon line on the Dodecanese, before returning to the Piraeus-Rethymnon line in 2001. In 2007, after ANEK Lines stopped serving the Piraeus-Rethymnon line, the ship moved to the Piraeus-Chania line. In 2008 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Syros-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini line on the Cyclades, where she stayed for one season. In 2009 she moved to the Piraeus-Milos-Santorini-Anafi-Heraklion-Siteia-Kasos-Karpathos-Chalki-Rhodes line, which is one of most demanding lifelines of the Aegean Sea. She grounded off in Santorini in 2014 and she collided with the port pier of Anafi in 2015. She grounded off in Siteia in 2019, while also grounding off in Santorini in 2021. After 14 years of service on the Kasos-Karpathos lifeline, she was deployed on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Ios-Santorini line in 2023, while waiting for the ANEMOS of the newly-established Greek company Aegean Sea Lines to enter service. She was not used at all during the 2024 season, and she instead remained laid-up in Elefsina, although she was reactivated later during that same year in order to be deployed on the Lavrion-Limnos-Kavala line on the Northeast Aegean Sea. She was once again laid-up in Elefsina in 2025. PHOTOS (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023): PREVELIS The PREVELIS resting in Piraeus (7/2015). HERMES (ΕΡΜΗΣ) -Kerkyra Seaways (2019 -202 3) current OLIVER for Jadrolinija Built in 1997 (age 28). Was registered in Piraeus. Current line: None in Greece, sold to Jadrolinija for service in Croatia The conventional ferry HERMES was built in 1997 in Japan, as the FERRY TSURUGI for the Japanese company Nankai Ferry. She was deployed on the Wakayama-Komatsushima line on the Kii Channel. In 1999 she was transferred to the newly-established company Rinku Ferry, which had taken the delivery of her sister ship, namely the FERRY KATSURAGI. Both ships were deployed on the Izumisano-Tokushima line on the Osaka Bay, but their service lasted only a season due to the financial issues of Rinku Ferry. As a result, they joined Nankai Ferry in 2000, with the FERRY TSURUGI hence operating once again for her original owners. She was deployed on the Wakayama-Tokushima line, where she remained until 2019. Later in that same year, she was sold to the Greek company Kerkyra Seaways and she was renamed HERMES. She arrived in Greece in 2020, and she was converted in Salamina and then in Drapetsona, and she entered service on the Igoumenitsa-Corfu line on the Ionian Sea in 2021. Her introduction to this service proved to be very successful, and she was considered to be the best ship of Corfu. She became the flagship of Kerkyra Seaways, and she was by far the fastest ferry on the line. Following the completion of the 2023 season, the ship was sold to the Croatian company Jadrolinija, being renamed VELA LUKA. During her conversion in Rijeka in 2024, however, she was renamed OLIVER, and she began service during the summer on the Split-Korčula-Lastovo line on the Adriatic Sea. NISSOS THIRASSIA (ΝΗΣΟΣ ΘΗΡΑΣΙΑ) -Thirassia Shipping (1995-2022 ) current OLIVIA C for Cardoso Marítima Built in 1995 (age 30). Was registered in Piraeus. Current line: None in Greece, sold to Cardoso Marítima for service in São Tomé and Príncipe The landing craft NISSOS THIRASSIA was built in 1995 in Greece for the Greek company Thirassia Shipping. She spent the first 27 years of her career on the Santorini-Thirassia line on the Cyclades, hence ensuring the daily connection of Thirassia with its more popular neighbour. The ship notably made a significant mark in the history of the Greek coastal service on 5 April 2007, when she took part of the rescue operation during the tragic sinking of the cruise ship SEA DIAMOND of Louis Cruises, which took place in the Caldera area in Santorini. The ship helped evacuate 1,500 passengers all by herself, and she was then helped by the lifeboats of the SEA DIAMOND and by other smaller local passenger ships. She was renamed OLIVIA C and she began service in 2023 on the Ana Chaves-Santo António line, thus linking the island of São Tomé with the island of Príncipe on the Gulf of Guinea. - Elite Jet | greekpassengerships
ELITE JET (ΕΛΙΤ ΤΖΕΤ) -Sea Jets Built in 1996 (age 29). Registered in Limassol. Current line: None (under refit in Salamina) The high speed ferry ELITE JET was built in 1996 in Australia, as the STENA LYNX III for the Swedish giants Stena Line. She spent her debut season on the Calais-Dover line on the Channel, while in 1997 she operated on the Dieppe-Newhaven line. In 1998 she operated in cooperation with the company P&O Ferries, under the P&O Stena Line brandname, and she was renamed ELITE. Later in that same year she was renamed P&O STENA ELITE, before being once again renamed STENA LYNX III just a few months later, and being deployed on the Fishguard-Rosslare line on the Irish Sea. In 2003 she was briefly renamed ELITE once again, before being once more renamed STENA LYNX III in 2004, and operating under the Stena Express brandname. She remained with Stena Line until 2011, when she was sold to the South Korean company Dae-A Express Shipping, for whom she was renamed SUNFLOWER 2. Upon her arrival in South Korea in 2012, she was transferred to the South Korean company Jang Heung Ferry and she was renamed ORANGE 1. She was deployed on the Jangheung-Jeju line on the Jeju Strait. In 2016 she returned to Dae-A Express Shipping as the OCEAN FLOWER 2, and she was inserted on the Busan-Tsushima line, thus connecting South Korea with Japan via the Tsushima Strait. In 2017 she was sold to the Trinidadian company Bridgemans Trinidad LP, and she was then leased to the Trinidadian state-owned company Trinidad and Tobago Inter-Island Ferry Service. She was due to operate on the Port of Spain-Scarborough line on the Caribbean Sea, but disagreements with Bridgemans Trinidad LP prevented her from operating, and she was instead laid-up for two years in Willemstad. In late 2019 she was sold to the Greek company Sea Jets, and she was renamed RAPIDLINK JET. She was refitted in Salamina and in Chalkida for four years, and she was renamed ELITE JET in 2023, when she finally entered service on the Heraklion-Rethymnon-Santorini line. In 2025 she remained laid-up in Salamina. PHOTOS (2024): ELITE JET The ELITE JET seen outside of Piraeus while undergoing sea trials on the Saronic Gulf (5/2024).
