SUPERSTAR II (ΣΟΥΠΕΡΣΤΑΡ ΙΙ)
-Sea Jets Ferries
Built in 1985 (age 41). Registered in Limassol. Current line: None (under refit in Drapetsona)
The cruiseferry SUPERSTAR II was built in 1985 in Denmark, as the PEDER PAARS for the DSB Rederi division, which was the ferry division of the Danish state-owned railway company DSB. She began service on the Aarhus-Kalundborg line on Kattegat. In 1990 it was announced that she had been sold to the Swedish giants Stena Line, and she was delivered to them the following year, whereupon she joined the fleet of Sealink Stena Line (as her new owners had taken over the former British conglomerate Sealink British Ferries, which was operating on the Channel and on the Irish Sea). She was renamed STENA INVICTA and she began service on the Calais-Dover line on the Channel. In 1992 her company was rebranded as Stena Sealink Line, while in 1996 she formally began operating under the core Stena Line brandname. In 1998 she was chartered to the Finnish company Silja Line and she operated on the Umeå-Vaasa line, thus linking Sweden with Finland via the Gulf of Bothnia. During her lone season there, she operated under the marketing name WASA JUBILEE. That same year, Stena Line started services in cooperation with the company P&O Ferries, under the P&O Stena Line brandname. The STENA INVICTA, however, was not considered as part of the company's plans, and she remained laid-up in Zeebrugge in 1999. In 2000 she was acquired by the Norwegian company Color Line. After a conversion in Drammen, she was renamed COLOR VIKING and she was deployed on the Strömstad-Sandefjord line, thus connecting Sweden with Norway via the Skagerrak. After 22 years on this service, Color Line announced its plans to withdraw the ship in late 2022, and she was listed for sale. She did not wait long for a new buyer, as in 2023 she was sold to the Greek company Sea Jets. She was renamed SUPERSTAR II and she underwent a lengthy conversion in Salamina and in Chalkida, which lasted for two years. Being the largest ferry acquired by the company, she began service in 2025, under the Sea Jets Ferries division, operating on the Piraeus-Mykonos-Patmos-Ikaria-Samos-Patmos-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos line on the Northeast Aegean Sea and on the Dodecanese.
