NANTI (ΝΑΝΤΗ)
-Kerkyra Seaways
Built in 1973 (age 51). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Igoumenitsa-Corfu
The veteran landing craft NANTI was built in 1973 in Greece for the Greek company Gerontakis Shipping. She has spent her entire career on the Igoumenitsa-Corfu line on the Ionian Sea, on which she has now been operating for over five decades. She underwent a major conversion in 1990 in Perama, during which she was lengthened and heightened, while her accommodation superstructure was extended and her indoor areas were renovated. From 2008 to 2015 she was only used for freight transportation, before she started to transport passengers once again in 2016, after she underwent another major conversion in Salamina, during which her aft section was extended. In 2018, her company became part of the Corfu Ferries joint venture together with Kerkyra Seaways, to whom she was transferred in 2020. With 51 years of service on the Igoumenitsa-Corfu line, she hold the record for the most consecutive seasons spent by a Greek ferry on the same line, and she is also the ferry with the longest and most continuous presence on the Ionian Sea. Because of her longevity, the proper maintenance undertaken by her owner, as well as her successful conversions which have made her a very comfortable ship despite her age, the NANTI is considered to be one of the greatest ships in the history of both Corfu and the Ionian Sea.
