MALENA (ΜΑΛΕΝΑ)
-Kellis Cruises
Built in 1988 (age 36). Registered in Kos. Current line: Kos-Bodrum
The small passenger ship MALENA was built in 1988 in Turkey, as the EGE EXPRESS for the Turkish company Bodrum Express Lines. She was deployed on the Kos-Bodrum line, where she remained until 2003. That year, she was sold to the Greek company Kellis Cruises, which is based in Kos. The ship was renamed MARIA STAR and she returned to the Kos-Bodrum line, performing summer cruises to Turkey while also doing occasional excursions to Turgutreis. In 2017, just after the summer season ended, she abruptly sank while docked in the port of Kos. She was immediately salvaged and she was towed to Kalymnos in order to undergo repairs. As a result of this, she missed the entire 2018 season. She returned in 2019 after having been renamed MALENA, being once again assigned on the Kos-Bodrum line. In 2021 she operated on the Kos-Kalymnos-Platy-Pserimos line on the Dodecanese. She returned to the Kos-Bodrum line in 2022.
