The small high speed boat KALYMNOS DOLPHIN was built in 2010 in Greece. She had been ordered by the Greek company ANEK Sea Lines in order to replace its first ship named KALYMNOS DOLPHIN (today the FREEDOM II of Hydra Lines), which had suffered an engine failure the previous year and had also been deemed too small to operate on the Dodecanese. The new KALYMNOS DOLPHIN replaced her on the Western Kos-Kalymnos-Pserimos line, hence enabling the connection of the port of Mastichari in Kos with both Kalymnos and the small island of Pserimos.
