The small passenger boat IONIAN SUN was built in 1990 in Greece, as the VASSILIOS A for the Greek company Akliros Cruises. She began her career by performing daily cruises on the Saronic Gulf, on the Zea-Aegina-Agistri-Poros-Hydra line. She stayed there until 2010, when she was deployed on the Porto Cheli-Spetses-Hydra-Poros-Epidavros-Monemvasia line. In 2017 she was sold to Seven Islands Cruises. She underwent a conversion in Perama, whereupon she received an upgraded stern, and she was renamed IONIAN SUN. She began service in 2018 in Zakynthos, doing daily trips around the island, while also making calls at the small island of Marathonisi.
