IOANNIS KAPODISTRIAS (ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ ΚΑΠΟΔΙΣΤΡΙΑΣ)

-Lefkimmi Lines

Built in 1999 (age 25). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Igoumenitsa-Corfu

The landing craft IOANNIS KAPODISTRIAS was built in 1999 in Greece, as the MAKEDONIA II for the Greek company Makedonia NE. She was built in order to replace the company's previous landing craft, namely the MAKEDONIA, which had been sold in 1998 to Assos Ferries. The MAKEDONIA II succeeded her predecessor on the Perama-Salamina line, where she stayed until 2006, after which she moved to the Megara-Salamina line. Until 2010, she would occasionally also serve the Perama-Salamina line in order to transport additional lorries. In 2018 she was sold to Lefkimmi Lines and she underwent a conversion in Salamina, during which she was renamed IOANNIS KAPODISTRIAS. She therefore took the name of the well-known Greek statesman who served as the first Governor of the newly-independent Greece and who originated from Corfu. The ship was headed to the Ionian Sea, being deployed on the Igoumenitsa-Corfu line, serving the Southern port of Lefkimmi.
