CHRISTINA (ΧΡΙΣΤΙΝΑ)

-Ionian Cruises

Built in 1962 (age 63). Registered in Corfu. Current line: None (under refit in Corfu)

The small passenger ship CHRISTINA was built in 1962 in the United Kingdom, and she was originally a fast attack craft commissioned for the West German Navy under the name STRAHL P6194. She also had one sister vessel, namely the PFEIL P6193. Both ships were transferred to the Hellenic Navy in 1967, with the STRAHL P6194 being renamed ASTRAPI, while the PFEIL P6193 was renamed AEOLOS. Both ships continued to operate in their capacity as fast attack craft until they were decommissioned in 1979. They were subsequently laid-up in Salamina until they were acquired by the Greek company Petrakis Lines (based in Corfu) in 1992. They were renamed CHRISTINA and ANTIGONI, respectively, and they were converted into passenger ships that would be able to perform daily summer cruises on the Ionian Sea. They began service on the Parga-Corfu-Paxoi-Antipaxoi line. In 2003 the company was rebranded as Ionian Cruises. From 2007 she and the ANTIGONI (which was renamed SFENDONI in 2010) have been deployed on the Corfu-Paxoi-Antipaxoi line. The CHRISTINA has also occasionally performed cruises from Corfu to Parga and Syvota, as well as Sarandë in Albania.
