The high speed catamaran ALEXANDER was built in 1986 in Japan. She began service there, under Marine Shuttle Company, as the MARINE SHUTTLE, serving the Tokyo-Yokohama line. She stayed there until 2000, when she was sold to the Greek company Cycladic Cruises. She was renamed ALEXANDER and began performing daily cruises on the Cyclades based in Naxos, being deployed on the Naxos-Paros-Delos-Mykonos-Irakleia-Koufonisi-Ios-Santorini line, where she has remained for the past 24 years.
